Bolt tension connecters are the best. You tighten it well enough and you never have to worry if it will come loose, especially in concealed systems. It’s well worth the extra money. It’s all we use on our installations.

Heavy duty cast bronze. Fits 1/2 inch up to 5/8 inch ground rods. These proper clamps usually cannot be found in building centers. Acorn nuts are not acceptable for use in lightning protection systems. You must use lightning conductor cable to grounding lightning protection systems. Only these clamps are constructed properly for use with the proper size conductor cable.

# M3 Bi-Metal Connector $16.10
Used in Aluminum applications. This is required to transition from aluminum cable to 5 feet or more of Copper cable before connecting to your ground rod or ground plate. Connection is made at least 12 inches above grade. Use one for each grounding location. All tops of ground rods or plates must be buried at least 2 feet below grade. You CAN’T ground with just aluminum.
