Surge protection is a vital part of an entire lightning protection system.  It is required by the Lightning Protection Institute, National Fire Protection Association and Underwriters Laboratories.  We offer a Breaker Panel Surge Arrestor that offers a $25,000 warranty against damage. It can withstand numerous strikes and has a LED light on it to let you know when it is no longer functioning. Most people think that the average surge protection and surge plug-in strips will do the job against lightning strikes but that is far from the truth. Regular surge equipment and plug in strips CANNOT handle lightning strikes, they can only handle spikes of electricity that may fluctuate in your 110-220 volt system and guard you against a sudden burst of regular electricity when power is restored from an outage or uncontrolled electrical spikes. NOT lightning strikes. They are only made to take a few extra volts, not millions of volts like lightning produces. You can go out and pay 2 to 3 times more for a surge arrestor that is actually improper and doesn't work with lightning strikes or carry a large warranty like ours does
